Wonderful World Update

On the news today:

"Secondary school pupils in north-eastern Nigeria have killed a teacher after apparently accusing her of desecrating the Koran, police say.
The teacher, a Christian, was attacked after supervising an exam in Gombe city. It is not clear what she had done to anger the students.
The authorities, concerned that communal unrest could break out, have ordered all the city's schools to shut.
Similar accusations sparked riots in neighboring Bauchi State last year.
At least 15,000 people have been killed in religious, communal or political violence since the country returned to civilian rule in 1999.

Last year, in Bauchi State, a rumor swept the city that a Christian teacher had also desecrated the Koran, which prompted riots in which at least five people were killed.
In fact, the teacher had confiscated the Koran from a pupil who was reading it in class.
Religious differences have long been used to justify all kinds of violence in Nigeria, our reporter says. "

So, is it only me or do you people also think that there's something wrong going on there?

For the Nigerians’ appreciation for their teachers and human life in general, I award the country of Nigeria a brand new, custom-made geographical feature to their landscape.

What a wonderful world this could be

I propose a toast to World Peace! Now think about World Peace and tell me: what do you see in your mind's eye? Do you see the image of muslims and christians and jews hugging each other, laughing and partying?
Really??
Come on, be serious. Do you believe this is possible?

I think it's easier to believe in Santa Claus bringing Easter eggs on an UFO than in this. When I think of World Peace I see this in my mind:

 

What do you think? Don't you think that a world like this would be much more peaceful than it is now? Of course, technically speaking that would be impossible to achieve so if we think a little more realistically then we would get something more like this:

 

Which although not as clean and beautiful as the previous one, still looks much more peaceful than the one we have now, don't you agree?
Well, of course we would lose quite a few assets like Egypt and other cradles of human civilization, but hey, no pain, no gain, right?
Wouldn't you be willing to pay a certain price for world peace, the end of terrorism and holy wars?
