A. Ronin’s real name is Marcos Sakaguti.
Q. Where is he from?
A. That’s a long story… He is a Japanese born Brazilian. Which means he is of Japanese ethnicity but was born in Brazil. He lived 23 years in Brazil then immigrated to Japan, where he lived for 14 years after which he immigrated again, this time to Romania where he has been living for the past 8 years.
Q. Why “Ronin”?
A. The word “Rōnin” (浪人) in Japanese means “Masterless samurai”.
In feudal Japan a samurai became masterless from the death or fall of his master, or after the loss of his master's favor or privilege. The ronin would then wander the country like a nomad mercenary, offering his services to whoever would engage him.
While living in Japan his work colleagues nicknamed him “Rōnin” because he was masterless and far from home.
